There are
lots of opportunities for individuals as well as classes, clubs and
other youth organizations to get involved. Forming a team is one option.
But there are lots of other ways to get involved in the spirit of
the Relay before, during and after the event. The Relay can be used
as a culminating activity of a project or a springboard for one that
you are starting.

Join one of the planning committees (We need people who are good with computers to help with spreadsheets and power point presentations)
Help
label and place luminarias Volunteer

shawls and blankets (or teach us how to do it at the Relay) Make
corsages or other gifts for our cancer survivors and their caregivers Devise
games that educate children about healthy lifestyle choices Help
with setting up and cleaning up Devise
and coordinate re-cycling plan at event Make
snacks for the walkers Make
a Windham Area Relay For Life video Help
collect Relay stories and compile a book Babysit
or do household chores for chemotherapy patients Conduct
a smoke-out event at your school Make
colorful animal hats for pediatric chemotherapy patients Make
sanitized activity packets for children undergoing treatment in
the hospital Write
letters of encouragement and thanks to caregivers, including medical
personnel Collect
hats, scarves and wigs for chemotherapy patients Record
books on tapes Volunteer
at the Cancer Resource Room at Windham Hospital
Devise and implement a project then let us list and
recognize the projects on this web site during the year.
