Walker’s
Instructions About Pledges & Luminaries
Please
follow these instructions when collecting and handing in sponsor envelopes
and luminarias.
Sponsor
Envelopes:
- No coins
- Checks made out to the “American
Cancer Society”
(Envelopes may contain cash and checks. If possible,
please convert cash to a check or money order in order to speed up the
registration and counting process. Make sure that the donation amount listed
on the outside of the sponsor envelope matches the amount of money that
is inside the envelope.)
- The sponsor envelopes should list and contain ONLY donations. (luminaria
forms, with their money, are recorded and handed in separately and should not be
listed or included in this envelope. There should be separate checks for
sponsored donations and luminaria requests. There should not be a check
that is meant to be both for luminarias and sponsorship.)
- Make sure that the walker signs the sponsor envelope.
If the walker is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must also
sign the envelope.
- Make sure that the sponsor envelope states your official
team name on it.
Luminaries:
- These should be in a separate envelope from regular
donations.
- Make sure that the forms are filled out completely
and legibly.
- Luminaries will also be accepted and sold at the Relay
until 7:00 pm. on Saturday, October 18.

When
can the monies be turned in?
- Envelopes and luminaria requests may be turned in
to your team captain prior to the Relay or brought directly to the registration
and luminaria tables the day of the Relay. Money collected after the
Relay should be given to a team captain or mailed directly to the Norwich
American Cancer Society Office with a note stating that it is for the
Windham Area Relay and the name of the team that it is accredited to.
Please try to hand in these forms and monies
prior to the Relay. This gives us time to plan and prepare for the luminaria
service and helps with security during the event.
